Entrance Procedures

1. Courses Offered

1) College Preparatory Course ( 1year  / starting in April)
2) College Preparatory Course ( 1.5-year / starting in October)
3) College Preparatory Course ( 2-year  / starting in April)
4) Japanese Course  (1 year  / starting in April and October)
 

2. Numbers to be admitted

150 people (College Preparatory Course: 56 / Japanese Course: 94)
 

3. Qualifications

You must satisfy at least one among the three conditions below.
1) Completion of 12 years of formal education in the applicant's native country
2) Completion of a high school curriculum or the equivalent in the applicant's native country
3) Acknowledgement by this school to possess adequate Japanese and foreign language skills
※ It must be noted that at times, applications from some specific countries and areas cannot be accepted.
 

4. Application Documents

A . Documents to be prepared by Applicant
1) Application (form provided by JET Academy)
2) Personal history  [Curriculum Vitae] (form provided by JET Academy)
3) Certificate of graduation  (original, copy not accepted)
4) School record for all semesters at the last school graduated
(original, copy not accepted) [Academic record]
5) Copy of your passport
6) 7 Photographs (4×3㎝, taken within the last 3 months. Name written on back.)
   
If the applicant entered an elementary school at an age older or younger than the starting age of compulsory education, all the certificates of graduation and all the grade records for all schools he/she graduated are needed.
(2), (3) and (4) have to be attached with Japanese translations. English and Chinese originals can be translated by JET Academy. (Fee : 5,000 yen/page)
If applicants have more than 5 years of occupational experience, documents certifying their work experience are needed.  Certificates of Japanese language study is also necessary where applicable.


B. Documents certifying financial ability of the student
We can not accept your application in case you rely on income from part-time jobs in Japan.

If the applicant's parent(s) living abroad or relative(s) living abroad wish to pay the tuition fees, the following documents are required;
1) Proof of the payer's own balance
2) Certificate of payment --- (prescribed form)
3) Proof of relationship with the applicant (ex. Copy of birth certificate, Green Card)
4) Proof of the payer's annual income
 
If the applicant pays the tuition fees on his/her own;
1) Proof of his/her own balance (at least three million yen)
2) proof of his/her annual income
 
If the applicant's relative living in Japan pays the tuition fees;
1) Certificate of payment --- (Prescribed form)
2) Certificate of guarantor's income statement
3) Proof of his/her own balance (at least three million yen)
4) Proof of relationship with the applicant (ex. Copy of birth certificate, Green Card)
5) Proof of occupation
6) Copy of ID card
   
All documents mentioned- above must be original.(or certified)
Additional documents may be required for the applicants from certain countries and areas. Contact us if you have any question.

5. Application Procedure

You can apply by one of the three ways below: 
a) Come to JET and submit the required documents with the screening fee. (20,000 yen)
b) Send all of your documents by registered mail. And transfer the screening fee (20,000 yen) to the bank specified.
(Applicants are responsible for the bank transaction fee.)
c) Go to one of our overseas liaison offices and submit the required documents with the screening fee (20,000 yen).  Please ask us about our overseas liaison offices in advance.

About the deadline of October 2017 course registrations (2017.05.01)
Registrations for students (Hongkong and Taiwan) attending the College Preparatory Course (1.5 years) have been closed.
For the Japanese Course (1 year), due to available spaces left, the deadline will be extended until 31 May 2017. For further information, please contact us.
 

7.Screening Method and Notification of Acceptance

Screening is done on the basis of the application documents submitted with the screening fee of 20,000 yen. The applicant will be notified as regards acceptance or non-acceptance to the school. The school will issue Letter of Admission. At this time, an admission fee of 50,000 yen needs to be paid. If you decide not to enter the school after you have completed admission procedure, the screening and admission fees will not be refunded.

 

8.Immigration Screening (Student Visa Application)

The documents of those who have passed the school's screening are then submitted to the Immigration Bureau by the school. After Certificate of Eligibility(COE; 在留資格認定証明書)is issued, the school will notify the applicant of the result. At this time, the applicant is required to pay the tuition fees, plus another 12,000 yen (which includes an insurance fee for foreign students and photocopying expenses for teaching materials) for the first year.The school will send the applicant the Certificate of Eligibility after the payment. Certificate of Eligibility for April course is usually issued at the end of February and for October course, at the end of August.

 

9.School Admission Procedures

1) Successful applicant with Certificate of Eligibility, should go to the local Japanese Embassy or Consulate to apply for a student visa.
2) As soon as he/she enters Japan, he/she must bring his/her passport and Letter of Admission and come to the school immediately.

1) As a rule, all fees must be paid in advance by the successful applicant.

2) The fees are not refundable under any circumstances.
(If Certificate of Eligibility is not issued by the Minister of Justice, we will return the admission fee of 50,000 yen to the applicant in exchange for Letter of Admission.)
3) The cost of text, and other materials are not included in the tuition fee.
(It will cost about 10,000 - 20,000 yen a year.)
